🧶 Why This Pattern is Different
No magic circle
Beginner-friendly crochet
Minimal techniques.
What will I make?
You will make a comfy crochet bed for your pet.
It will be approximately 30 cm in diameter. You can add rows to make the diameter bigger.
It is ok to be a total beginner! A super fun project for group activities and charities. Estimated time of accomplishment: 2 hours.
What do I need to make this easy crochet cat bed?
• 10 mm or size N/P-15 crochet hook.
• 1lb of t-shirt yarn. That is around the size of two oranges. You can make your own yarn by recycling any fabric you have, cutting it into strips, and connecting them to each other.
• Scissors
• Stitch Markers (These are mall hooks to mark the beginning of rows. You can use a paper clip or a hairpin.)
Abbreviations:
sl: Slip stitch
ch: chain stitch
sc: single crochet stitch
Let's make the base of the cat bed:

Make a slip stitch and 3 chain stitches.
Connect the third chain and slip-stitch with a chain stitch.
This is important: We will continue and finish the base by inserting our crochet hook IN BETWEEN the two wings of our next stitch.
2nd round: 2 sc in each stitch. That will be 6 sc.
At the end of each round, put the stitch marker on the first stitch of the new round to mark the beginning of the row otherwise, you will lose where the beginning of the next round is!
3rd round: 2 sc in each stitch. That will be 12 single crochets.
4th round: 2 sc, 1 sc in each stitch.
5th round: 2 sc in each stitch.
6th round: 2 sc, then 2 times 1 sc in each stitch.
7th round: 2 sc in each stitch. Take the stitch maker off.
The wall of the bed:
Let's continue our easy crochet cat bed!
Insert your hook under BOTH wings of the next stitch throughout the end. There is no need for a stitch marker on the wall. We will keep crocheting in a spiral, making a single crochet in each stitch for a minimum of 6 rounds. You can keep going as much as you like to make the wall around the basket thicker.
Once you are finished with the wall of the bed, cut the end of the yarn as the length of your hook. Make a double knot around the stitch you are in, to close the work. Cut off the remaining tail.
Roll the wall inwards to make a roll around the base. Your pet will love to put her chin on the roll!
You can use multi-colors by tying them to each other!
You can wash your basket in the machine washer. Have fun with your easy crochet cat bed!
